Wildfire emerging west of Loon Lake

A 15-acre forest fire began emerging west of Loon Lake around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in an area under Washington State Department of Natural Resources jurisdiction.

DNR had multiple resources on the scene Wednesday evening including an engine and helicopter.

DNR spokesperson Ryan Rodruck said that air and ground resources were “making good progress” but firefighters hadn’t determined the percentage containment as of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The cause of the fire was unknown Wednesday evening. Dry and windy conditions expected Thursday in the area could fan the flames.
