Deserting the COVID battle

Imagine the United States was fighting a war and just as victory was in sight, our troops decided they had enough and quit fighting. Some of them broke ranks and started partying, while others decided the fight was wrong and started protesting against it. What would you call those people? Are they patriots or deserters?

The U.S. was within a few months of beating the coronavirus pandemic when thousands of people gave up and quit the fight. They quit social distancing. They stopped wearing masks. They started partying. And they started protesting against the stay-at-home orders.

COVID-19 infections and deaths are surging throughout the United States because people quit fighting. They deserted the battle. They turned traitor and started condemning governors issuing lock-down orders.

If soldiers had done that during a military action they would have been court-martialed. If we are truly fighting a war against coronavirus then the cowards that quit deserve no respect.
