Sandpoint man dies in crash south of Athol

A Sandpoint man died Monday in a crash on U.S. Highway 95 south of Athol.

The Idaho State Police responded to the scene at about 8 p.m.

There they found a totaled Saturn Vue driven by Joshua W. Paulson, 30, of Sandpoint.

Paulson’s car had drifted off the left side of the road and entered the median, according to the Idaho State Police. The car rolled multiple times causing Paulson to be ejected.

He died on scene. Paulson was not wearing a seat belt, ISP said.

The highway was closed for about two hours, reopening at 10 p.m. The cause of the crash is under investigation, ISP said.
