South Dakota dumps Eastern

Eastern Washington’s men’s basketball team gave up a seven-point second-half lead and lost to South Dakota 78-72 in Vermillion Monday night.  You can read more here.

Huskers put big hurt on Eags

Any momentum Eastern Washington’s struggling men’s basketball team might have picked up from its 95-91 home win over Seattle University last Wednesday might have been smothered Saturday night when the Eagles suffered a 72-42 road loss to Nebraska.

Dean’s return takes point pressure off Winford

Glen Dean, after missing EWU’s first seven men’s basketball games with a stress fracture in his left foot, has returned to handle the Eagles’ point-guard chores, and teammate Kevin Winford is as pleased as anyone to have Dean back.

Eags’ Dean cleared to practice

Eastern Washington’s sophomore point guard Glen Dean, who has missed the Eagles first seven games of the season with a stress fracture in his foot, was cleared to practice earlier this week and could be available for Sunday rematch against San Jose State in San Jose, Calif.

In addition, EWU coach Kirk Earlywine also expects to have junior guard Cliff Colimon (ankle) and junior forward Rashano McRae back (concussion) after both missed several games with injuries.

EWU’s Dean sidelined with stress fracture

The 2010-11 college basketball season has not started off well for Eastern Washington men’s coach Kirk Earlywine and his Eagles.

Less than a week into practice, Earlywine has lost sophomore point guard Glen Dean for an indefinite time because of a stress fracture in his foot.  And promising freshman Geoffrey Allen has been lost for the season with a broken wrist that will keep him in cast for about three months.
