EWU and the Big Sky

Even though the Eagles ahve a bye this week, there's plenty to talk about. I was at practice Tuesday to catch up on things on and off the field, including progress on the new video scoreboard and the team's new matte-black helmets, which will be used later this season at a game to be determined (I have a pretty good idea which one.)  I tweeted an image of the helmet while I was at practice; follow me on Twitter at @srjimallen. While I was there, word filtered in about the half-game suspension  slapped on WSU safety Deone Bucannon after his hit on EWU receiver Greg Herd. Folks in Cheney thought that was a biteasy. Here's a discussion of the topic at Coug Center, along with a video of the play.

As I write this,it's only 35 hours until kickoff of Eastern's season opener at Idaho. Until then, here's a transcript from our live chat yesterday.
