It they accomplish it, it will help them hold onto the points lead through the next four races leading up to the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, after which the Countdown to 1 playoffs begin for the final six races.

KRAWIEC ON A ROLL IN PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE AS FULL THROTTLE SERIES HEADS TO INFINEON RACEWAY

Eddie Krawiec, the former dragstrip manager at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J. turned hotshot Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion, emerged from deep in the top 10 last season in the Countdown to 1 to win the Full Throttle Series season crown.

TONY PEDREGON EARNS PROVISIONAL NO. 1 IN FUNNY CAR DURING DIFFICULT SESSION IN HOT CONDITIONS

Tony Pedregon ran in the final pair of the second qualifying session with Bob Tasca (4.228, 282.48) and each got down the track they qualified 1-2 but they were among the only Funny Cars to do so on what proved to be a difficult track to solve for most of the Funny Car crew chiefs.

Bernstein looking for third consecutive final round appearance in Seattle

Brandon Bernstein has made final round appearances in Seattle three out of the five years he’s been at the wheel of the popular Budweiser dragster owned by his father, Kenny.  Brandon won the event in 2005 and scored two consecutive runner-up finishes in ’07 and ’08.  He was also the No. 1 qualifier in ’06.

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northwest Division 32nd Annual  Les Schwab Challenge event at Woodburn Dragstrip was called prematurely due to rain. Some racing was completed prior to Sunday’s downpour.

In other racing, Larry Dixon, Neff, Greg Anderson and Andrew Hines claimed No. 1 qualifying positions and will lead their respective categories into tomorrow’s 11 a.m. eliminations for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. It is the 12th of 24 events in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event.

DIXON SITS NO. 1 IN NORWALK; NEFF, A. JOHNSON, GUIDERA ALSO IN PROVISIONAL SPOTS AT SUMMIT MOTORSPORTS PARK

Larry Dixon drove his Alan Johnson Al-Anabi Racing dragster to a 3.882-second pass at 301.74 mph to become the provisional top qualifier in Top Fuel. If it stands it would be Dixon’s third No. 1 qualifier of the season, 34th of his career and a first at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.

Force still after first round-win in Summit Nationals

Since winning last year in Topeka, John Force has advanced to the semifinals five times but hasn’t been able to go any further. He hopes to change that Sunday.
