May 28, 2012 in City Harry H. Ferrier, a 30-year naval veteran who is now living in Oak Harbor, was invited to the National Memorial Day Parade this year in Washington, D.C. Ferrier served as a radioman for Torpedo Squadron 8 during the Battle of Midway in 1942, and was one of the only three survivors of VT-8, the first group of torpedo planes to encounter the Japanese carrier fleet. In this video, this 87-year old man recalls the day of June 4, 1942. His daughter Susan Harmon, who has lived in Spokane for 30 years, also tells us the story of Mr. Ferrier as a father.
