Loose Moose

Mondays usually start slow at the newspaper. When photo assignments editor Larry Reisnouer asked if I wanted to check out a report of two moose in Comstock Park, I was out the door before he could finish. Sure enough, a large cow and a juvenile bull were grazing on tree leaves. A crowd of onlookers, cameras and binoculars in hand, began to form. At one point the moose crossed the park and hung out in the backyard of a house. The crowd, growing by the minute, just kind of followed them wherever they went. Police officers and the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife arrived and moved everyone to a safe distance. It was fun shooting people’s reactions to the large game animals, especially the kids. Even my wife Kim and our two daughters, Shannon and Brenna showed up to watch the show. I like how this video starts. I wanted it to be ambiguous at first, making you wonder what everyone was talking about.
