Local food banks struggle with increased demand

At a time when more people are seeking food assistance than ever, the region's food banks are facing food shortages. Second Harvest, the central warehouse for more than 300 food banks and meal centers, is seeking private donations to help compensate for a shortfall in federal Department of Agriculture commodities.
