Like a lot of hot rod enthusiasts, Russ Freund got his obsession about cars from his dad. Claude Freund passed away in April 2011 while recovering from surgery. When Russ rolls his pristine purple Model T roadster through Car d’Lane 2011 this weekend, it will be without his hot rod mentor, the man who taught him everything he knows about restoring classic cars and who was well-known in automotive circles around the region. Claude’s creations made the covers and center spreads of dozens of auto magazines because of their flair and style.
