Flash mob at Northtown Mall

On Sunday, Dec. 23, one of the busiest shopping days of the year, natives peoples from Canada and the United States held a "unity dance" around the Christmas tree at Northtown Mall in north Spokane. While leaders tapped hand drums, hundreds took part in the event, which was organized by the activist group Idle No More, which started in Canada. The group, which has complaints about treaty violations with the Canadian government and the rights of indigenous people north of the border, was seeking support and solidarity with tribes within the United States. Word of the event spread over the internet though many participants knew little of the issues brought up by the tribes from Canada. This video was created with a cellphone and Final Cut Pro.
