Waste to Energy Plant turns 25

Twenty-five years ago, the city of Spokane closed its landfills and constructed the Waste to Energy near the Spokane Airport to dispose of garbage produced in the city and some of Spokane County. The byproduct of burning is electricity, which powers the plant operations. The excess power is sold back to the local power utilities.
