Morrison expected to join GU staff
Former Gonzaga great Adam Morrison is taking classes at the school and expected to have a role with the basketball program.
Head coach Mark Few told cbssports.com that Morrison will be a “student assistant. It’ll be great,” Few said. “The players really respect him.”
GU officials confirmed Morrison is enrolled in summer school. His specific duties with the basketball staff will be determined at a later date, officials said.
Morrison’s 28.1 points per game led the nation in scoring in 2006. He was selected to the All-American team and won or shared several player of the year awards. Morrison bypassed his senior season and was drafted third overall by Charlotte.
Morrison played four seasons in the NBA, two with Charlotte and two with the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged a career-high 11.8 points as a rookie in 2006-07. After playing professionally overseas, Morrison signed with the Portland Trail Blazers but was waived prior to the 2012-13 season.
