Rem Bakamus cuts hair for Locks of Love

Fans celebrate Gonzaga’s big win

Moments before the Gonzaga basketball team put its finishing touches on hits historic 77-73 win over South Carolina on Saturday, a sea of young faces and flailing arms jumped to the Zags’ trademark tune. “WE ARE GU” they screamed as the floor of the John J. Hemmingson Center shook.

Old-school beard snaps

“S/o to @Snapchat for releasing my official filter for the #FinalFour,” Przemek Karnowski tweeted Thursday, after the social media app released a sparkly, pink beard similar in shape and size to Karnowski’s (although the app didn’t officially release the name of the filter). While The Spokesman-Review could have used the filter to shoot photos across town, we decided to do it the old-fashioned way. We bought red-tinted beards of our own, and asked city leaders and fans to sport them. Here’s the end result. Take that, Snapchat.

Gonzaga students and fans gathered near the south entrance of the McCarthey Athletic Center late Saturday night as the Bulldogs men’s basketball team returned from the NCAA Tournament West Regional final in San Jose, California.
