Bio: Alberts was a three-star recruit and ranked as the 50th best point guard in the 2014 class by ESPN.com. Village Christian High product picked Gonzaga over Stanford. Visited Tulane and made a dozen other unofficial campus visits. Scored 17 points in the title game to help Village Christian win the 2012 California Interscholastic Federation Division 5 state championship. Averaged 17.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.2 steals in 65 games in his sophomore and junior seasons. Slowed by knee injury as a senior but still averaged 10.4 points and 6.1 assists.
So. Scouting report: Redshirt sophomore wing is competing for time at a crowded wing position. Moved into the starting lineup last season after showing early he was a 3-point threat and could play relatively mistake-free (just seven turnovers in 390 minutes). Struggled with perimeter shot in conference and eventually was replaced in starting lineup. Made 40.4 percent of 3-pointers for the season (58.3 percent at home, just 2 of 21 on the road/neutral floors). Played just 13 minutes in GU’s last five games. Averaged 11.5 minutes, 2.6 points, 1.2 rebounds. Redshirted in 2015.
