We’re still nearly a month away from the Oscars broadcast, which will take place on Sunday, March 12th. So there’s still plenty of time to see many, if not most of the nominees.

The Magic Lantern Theatre will aid in that quest on Friday when it’s scheduled to open two Oscar-nominated shorts programs: live action and animated.

The live-action short film nominees: “An Irish Goodbye,” “Ivalu,” “Le Pupille,” “Night Ride,” “The Red Suitcase.”

The animated short film nominees: “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse,” “The Flying Sailor,” “Ice Merchants,” “My Year of Dicks,” “An Ostrich Told Me the World Was Fake and I Believe It.”

This is good news, especially for all those of you who seek out Oscar contests to compete in. Or who hold them during your own parties.

As for nominees in all the other categories, they’re playing all over town. Just check your movie listings. The Lantern itself is screening several, among them “Living,” “The Whale,” “The Banshees of Inisherin,” “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Happy viewing. You’ve still got time to catch all of them.
