Friday’s openings: Fighting leads the way

The movie year is finally getting under way with a full range of mainstream openings scheduled for Friday.

Among them:

“Creed III”: Jonathan Majors stars as Damian Anderson, the latest fighter to face Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) for his boxing title.

“Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre”: Another Guy Ritchie offering, this one starring Jason Statham as an operative who hires a movie star (played by Josh Hartnett) to help him foil an international arms deal Also starring, Hugh Grant, Aubrey Plaza and Cary Elwes.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village”: A Japanese anime film about a boy, seeking revenge for his murdered family, who seeks to join the Demon Slayer Corps.

“Hunt Her, Kill Her”: Natalie Terrazzino stars as a night security guard who must find a way to survive an attack by a band of masked intruders.

“Children of the Corn”: A “reimagining” of the Stephen King story about kids killing the adults of their town. (Some 10 “Children of the Corn” films have been previously released in the franchise.)
