Now that the Oscars are out of the way, we can get back to regular moviegoing. And the coming week offers a variety of choices, from movies with superheroes to thrillers and even a foreign-language film.

The scheduled openings:

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods”: In this sequel to 2019’s “Shazam!” Billy Batson (Zachary Levi) and his gang tackle the Daughters of Atlas who wield a weapon that can destroy the world.

No reviews available. Seldom a good sign.

“Inside”: Willem Dafoe stars as an art thief who, upon getting locked in a New York penthouse, must find a way to survive.

Bill Goodykoontz of the Arizona Republic wrote, “It’s all Dafoe, all the time – basically a one-man show, with the exception of some brief dream sequences – and he is customarily all in on his performance.”

“Moving On”: Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda star as two estranged friends who, having reconnected at a mutual friend’s funeral, decide to take revenge on the dead woman’s philandering husband.

Peter Debruge of Variety wrote, “We’ve been spoiled this past decade, discovering what Fonda and Tomlin can do together. Why didn’t Hollywood see the potential of this pairing half a century earlier?”

“Full River Red”: Renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou (“Raise the Red Lantern,” “House of Flying Daggers”) tells a story set during the Song Dynasty that involves conspiracy, traitorous actions … and murder.

James Marsh of the South China Post describes the film as “A visually ravishing blend of palace intrigue and knockabout humour.”

I’ll update as the week progresses.
