MotorSpaceNW muscle car test drive Part 1

The last time I attempted to test-drive a muscle car for this blog I was stuffed into the passenger seat of a tired 1980 Corvette Sting Ray alongside a rosy-cheeked man who was most likely dying of respiratory failure. At the time, a blogger from MotorSpaceNW.com didn’t carry the kind of clout a person of the “real” automotive press might have, at least not with ol’ wheezy. Needless to say I was righteously embittered.

“No American should be denied the right to at least test-drive a piece of their country’s heritage,” I wrote, “Mark my words: I’ll test drive one of those beasts before my days are through.” (1)

Yes, I just quoted myself.

Now nearly eight months later, the American auto industry is on iTs lips and MotorSpace is doing better than ever; the tables have turned. This week I intend to make good on my vow and weasel my way behind the wheel of the new Chevrolet Camaro SS, Dodge Charger SRT8 and Ford Mustang GT. I’m on a mission from the car gods and this time failure is not an option. This time car dealers ought to need good publicity more than ever and fear any negative bloggings that could surely bring their survival into further question. Accordingly, I’ll be packing some heat with the good blogger/bad blogger technique:

Good Blogger - Let me take one of your muscle cars for a spin and I’ll laud praise for your dealership across the Internet:

“The service was friendly and low pressure. Carl Jenkins, Senior Sales Manager at Jenkins Chrysler-Dodge surely knows how to treat a customer.”

Bad Blogger –Turn me down or have the audacity to ask if I have any intention of actually purchasing said vehicle and watch as I smear a slanderous campaign of hate across the online skies:

“Carl Jenkins’ breath smelt of cheap booze and truck stop restrooms. When I asked to test drive the new Challenger he… touched me.”

Have it your way Carl. All's I wants is a test drive.

Disclaimer*

I would not actually slander or blackmail the fictional character of Carl Jenkins or any actual person in the creation of a MotorSpaceNW blog. I will however do my honest best to convince a salesperson to let me drive a muscle car purely for my own enjoyment and that of the MotorSpace members who read the ensuing story.
