Semanko pleads for GOP unity

Idaho Republican Party Chairman Norm Semanko has sent out a post-primary message, pleading for Republicans to come together after yesterday's bitterly divisive primary election. "2012 brings a great opportunity for Idaho Republicans - we must not, and we will not squander it," Semanko writers. Of the primary he said, "Some would argue that this competition damaged the Party; I argue the opposite. I believe that the enthusiasm and energy we witnessed speaks to the strength of the Idaho Republican Party." Click below for his full message.

Dear Idaho Republican,

With the primary election behind us, now is a good time to remember why we are Republicans and commit to working together to further our principles and to support our candidates.

Now that our champions have been chosen and they will carry our Republican banner forward in the general election, we must all unite and dedicate ourselves to promoting the Republican principles of freedom and liberty, limited government, lower taxes and unlimited opportunity. This stands in stark contrast to the party of Obama, Pelosi and Reid and their agenda of out-of-control deficit spending, large government and excessive regulations.

2010 was a record year for Idaho Republicans; however, as you recall it was a year that also witnessed a spirited, and sometimes heated, primary election. 2012 brings a great opportunity for Idaho Republicans - we must not, and we will not squander it.

May 15th signaled the end of a competitive and hard fought primary for many positions in our Party. Some would argue that this competition damaged the Party; I argue the opposite. I believe that the enthusiasm and energy we witnessed speaks to the strength of the Idaho Republican Party and is a bellwether to the challenge that Idaho democrats face in November.

Please join me in uniting behind the Idaho Republican Party and fighting for the Republican Party principles that we hold dear. With your help we will maintain Republican seats in the 1st and 2nd Congressional district, and expand our majorities in the Idaho House and Senate.

With your help we will ensure that Idaho remains and becomes what America was meant to be.

Victory in Idaho in 2012!

Sincerely,

Norm Semanko
Chairman, Idaho Republican Party
