GOVERNOR APPOINTS TWIN FALLS PHYSICIAN TO STATE BOARD OF CORRECTION
(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment today of Dr. David McClusky of Twin Falls to a vacancy on the State Board of Correction.
He succeeds Jay Nielsen of Twin Falls, whose term expired.
The three-member Board of Correction is responsible for oversight and policy making for Idaho’s prison system. Dr. McClusky, a general surgeon who previously served on the State Board of Medicine and the State Board of Pharmacy, will serve a six-year term, subject to confirmation by the Idaho Senate.
“As a medical professional, I look forward to the challenge of helping solve some of the problems having to do with health care and community reintegration,” Dr. McClusky said.
“Health care, mental health and addressing the challenges of an aging prison population all are among the Board of Correction’s top priorities these days,” Governor Otter said. “David brings a fresh and needed perspective on these issues, and his insights and experience will provide a great benefit to the Department of Correction. I appreciate his willingness to join us in that effort.”
Dr. McClusky, 69, is a Twin Falls native who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Idaho and his medical degree at Northwestern. He is an Air Force veteran who has been active in civic and charitable organizations in the Twin Falls area for many years and currently practices medicine at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center.
