Holiday decorations are being hauled away, the big lighted tree on the front steps has been dismantled, and lawmakers and staffers are beginning to filter back in to the state Capitol in advance of the legislative session that starts on Monday. The House chamber is being readied for Gov. Butch Otter’s State of the State address to a joint session of the Legislature, which is set for Monday at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, legislative meetings actually kick off today, with the Joint Economic Outlook & Revenue Assessment Committee set to convene at 1 in the Lincoln Auditorium, to begin a day and a half of hearings on the state’s economy and the tax revenue outlook. That information then gets built into the estimates on which the state budget is set. You can see the agenda and presentations and watch live online here.
