Bill would require Idaho high school grads to pass same citizenship test as immigrants

An Idaho senator is working on legislation to require students to pass the same U.S. history and civics test to graduate from high school that immigrants must pass when applying for U.S. citizenship, the Idaho Press-Tribune reports today. Sen. Jim Patrick, R-Twin Falls, told the Press-Tribune his bill would let students start taking the test after the 7th grade, and would require them to get a passing score by high school graduation; he’s planning to propose it to the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday.
