Sen. Souza wants to extend campaign finance disclosure requirements to school board candidates
Coeur d’Alene Sen. Mary Souza wants school board candidates to be subject to the same campaign finance disclosure requirements as other candidates for nonpartisan local offices, like candidates city council and community college trustees, Twin Falls Times-News reporter Nathan Brown reports today on his blog, “On the Agenda.” Brown reports that Souza, a freshman Republican, told the Senate Education Committee yesterday that Alaska and North Dakota are the only two other states that don’t require campaign finance disclosures for candidates for school trustee. "Many of the school districts in our state are having more contentious and more involved elections," Souza said. The committee agreed to introduce Souza’s bill; you can read Brown’s full report here.
