Hill: ‘We made the mess, we need to clean it up’

“The way I see it, we made the mess,” said Sen. Brent Hill, R-Rexburg, in his closing debate. “We didn’t need to. We made the mess – we need to clean it up. To put that kind of burden on local prosecutors is just one more unfunded mandate. … I don’t believe the court is the best place to make public policy.”

“They thought that if they got into it fast enough and deep enough, that they would back us into a corner where we can’t get out,” Hill said, “They’re professional gamblers. But they should have known that you always lose when you bet against the house – or the Senate. … If we let them get away with this bait and switch, families we represent are the ones that are losing.”
