Attorney General’s investigation focuses on Canyon sheriff’s use of nonprofit

The Idaho Attorney General’s office is investigating a complaint of misuse of office against Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue, according to both the Idaho Press-Tribune and KTVB-TV, involving the sheriff’s use of a private foundation that oversees his “Man Up Crusade.” Canyon County commissioners contacted Attorney General Lawrence Wasden in August after receiving complaints from employees and taxpayers.

Wasden has asked Canyon County officials to preserve email and phone records dating back to November of 2012 as part of the investigation; Donahue says he’s confident he’ll be cleared of wrongdoing. The Press-Tribune’s report is online here; KTVB’s is online here.
