Audit shows widespread errors in Idaho teacher evaluations

An audit by an independent education research group found that 99 percent of Idaho teacher evaluations reviewed were completed incorrectly, reports Idaho Education News; the audit turned up hundreds of errors. The teacher evaluations are key to the state’s new career ladder, for which state Superintendent of Schools Sherri Ybarra plans to ask lawmakers in January for an additional $58 million a year.

The state Department of Education has had the report since July, writes EdNews reporter Clark Corbin; Idaho EdNews obtained the report in December through a result of a public records request. Rob Winslow, the executive director of the Idaho Association of School Administrators, said on Monday he has never seen the report and has never discussed the findings with the SDE. The audit calls for new training for “all teachers, teacher supervisors and central office leaders.” Corbin’s full report is online here.
