Competing presentation on refugees cancelled; will be rescheduled

Organizers have just announced “with deep regret” that they’re cancelling a presentation on refugee resettlement in Idaho featuring law enforcement, resettlement and faith leaders that had been set for this Thursday evening, at the same time as a competing event featuring two anti-Islam speakers in the Capitol Auditorium. “Legislators may feel that they have to make a choice between the two
forums, a choice which could become a liability to them,” said organizer Said Ahmed-Zaid in an email. “It would be better if we rescheduled our forum at a later date and give a chance to all legislators to attend both meetings if they choose to do so.”

He said, “We will try to reschedule this forum in the near future, hopefully in the next two to three weeks.”
