Eye On Boise

Of fish, tribes and industry…

The Senate Resources Committee only got through the new pollution discharge elimination system rules this afternoon; it’ll take up controversial new water quality rules on Wednesday. Melissa Davlin of Idaho Public TV has a look at the issues here, and reports, “The state’s most powerful industry groups, conservationists and tribes are arguing over cancer risk, pollution, and huge expenses for businesses and cities. And it all comes down to how much fish we eat.” Fish consumption rates are used in the rule to determine acceptable water pollutant levels.
