Idaho insurance exchange will have at least 4 carriers offering plans in every Idaho county in 2017

The board of Idaho’s “Your Health Idaho” state insurance exchange today approved 225 health and dental insurance plans to be offered on the exchange in 2017, and announced that residents in all of Idaho’s 44 counties will have at least four health insurance carriers to choose from, if not more.

The next open enrollment period begins Nov. 1. Five insurance carriers will offer medical plans on the exchange, and five will offer dental plans. “Idaho has consistently operated the exchange at a local level, from plan choices to governance,” said Pat Kelly, executive director of the exchange. “We believe local control is one of the reasons that Idaho has been able to ensure consumer choice.” The Idaho Department of Insurance will finalize insurance rates this week.

Nearly 90 percent of those who buy insurance through the exchange qualify for federal tax credits to offset the cost. Your Health Idaho will begin offering customers preview of its 2017 plans and networks Oct. 1 on its website, www.yourhealthidaho.org.
