It’s another busy day at the Capitol today. This morning, University of Idaho President Chuck Staben goes before lawmakers for his annual budget hearing. The House State Affairs Committee will consider a proposal from its chairman, Rep. Tom Loertscher, R-Iona, to revise the definition of “lottery,” a key issue with regard to regulating gambling in the state. The Senate, which convenes at 11, will take final action on awarding fees and costs in the contest of the District 29 election results.

This afternoon in committee, lawmakers will debate everything from past marijuana use by prospective new cops to air quality rules for field-burning, and two newly appointed Idaho Fish & Game commissioners will have a confirmation hearing in the Senate Resources Committee. Today is the 17th legislative day of this year’s session…
