Short list for high court: Bevan, Moeller, Stegner, Rainey
The Idaho Judicial Council has selected four finalists from the pool of 13 applicants for an opening on the Idaho Supreme Court; the four will go to Gov. Butch Otter on Monday, and he will appoint the new justice, who will start in August when current Justice Daniel Eismann retires.
The four include three sitting district judges from around the state and one Boise attorney:
5th District Judge Richard Bevan of Twin Falls
7th District Judge Greg Moeller of Rexburg
2nd District Judge John Stegner of Moscow
Rebecca Rainey, a partner in Fisher Rainey Hudson in Boise
You can read my full story here at spokesman.com. Whoever is appointed will serve out the remainder of Eismann’s term, then face election for a full six-year term, running in 2018 for a term that will start Jan. 1, 2019.
