Bedke: ‘Idaho is lucky to have a field like that’ for GOP gov nomination in ‘18

House Speaker Scott Bedke, who addressed the Idaho Press Club today, was asked if he’s picked a candidate in what could be a four-way race for the GOP nomination for governor in 2018. “If it’s the same four that I’m thinking of,” Bedke said, “then I count each one of those four as friends.”

That would be announced candidates Brad Little, Russ Fulcher, and Tommy Ahlquist, who just announced today, and possible candidate Raul Labrador.

“I’ve worked with three of them a lot,” Bedke said. “And I’ve got to know the fourth one, Tommy Ahlquist, pretty well in the last several years. And Idaho is lucky to have a field like that for the Republican nomination. We’ll see who the Democrats field. But those are articulate candidates that hae clear and sometimes contrasting views of what they think Idaho should look like, and I look forward to the discussion of their visions going forward.”

Bedke said he hasn’t yet picked his favorite.
