The House has come back into session and voted 69-0 on SB 1141, the $52 million emergency road repair funding bill. Rep. Maxine Bell, R-Jerome, recounted the history of the Legislature acting when there are emergencies. “That’s what this bill is about – one-time help,” she said. “Not fires this time, not Mormon crickets, not quagga mussels, but mud.” Bell said, “I would ask your support for your neighbors at this time.”

When the House vote board lit up all green with the unanimous vote, Bell murmured quietly, “Oh, thank you. Woo!”

The emergency road funding bill, passed by the Senate on March 9, now goes to the governor’s desk. It has an emergency clause making it effective as soon as it’s signed into law, and taps the funds within the current year’s budget.
