Statesman publisher to leave for post at Idaho Power

The Idaho Statesman announced today that its president and publisher, Debra Leithauser, will step down Dec. 1 to take a job overseeing the communications department at Idaho Power. Leithauser, the Statesman reported, said, “I had a great opportunity to go to another company, and it lets me stay in Idaho long-term, which is what my family and I want. We came to Boise and just fell in love with the area. Staying here became a top priority for us.”

McClatchy, the Sacramento, Calif. Company that owns the Statesman, said it has launched a search for her successor. Leithauser has been the Statesman’s publisher since October of 2015. She was also recently named the “regional publisher” of the Tri-City Herald. Leithauser is the Statesman’s third publisher since McClatchy acquired the Statesman in 2006. The Statesman’s full report is online here.
