Rep. Stephen Hartgen, R-Twin Falls, announced today that he plans to retire at the end of his current term – and endorsed his wife, Linda, who plans to run for the seat. “As many of you know, I have had some health issues these past few years following a viral infection in 2013, and believe this is now the time to retire,” Hartgen said in a statement. “I have deeply enjoyed serving as a southern Idaho representative, first for Twin Falls and Owyhee Counties, and more recently for Twin Falls itself. It’s been an honor and privilege to hold this seats for five terms and to be able to advance common sense, Republican values which reflect the best of Southern Idaho.”

“I can think of no better replacement candidate than my wife Linda, who has a stellar record of public service in the Magic Valley,” Hartgen said. Linda Wright Hartgen has served as the elected Twin Falls county clerk and the longtime trial court administrator for the 5th Judicial District.
