Down To Earth

Coldplay! Daily Tip #340

No, not the band. They suck. But it was noticeably chillier in Spokane this week and for every degree you lower the heat, you can save 3 percent in energy costs. But once it gets really, really cold we advise if you’re home you can warm your house to 68 degrees, then at night or while you’re out, turn it down to 55 degrees. If you have the means, install a programmable thermostat to do all this switching automatically because for every 100 households that practice careful thermostat regulation, the CO2 output will be reduced by more than 300,000 pounds, or 15 tons, annually. Or take Jimmy Carter’s advice.
