Down To Earth

Strange Days Indeed

Give alternative energy a chance.  Jonathan Jay Pollard may always be known as the ex U.S. naval intelligence analyst who sold U.S. secrets to Israel in the late 80's.  But staring a life sentence square in the eyes hasn't stopped him from planning for the future.  The possibility of an early release, or better yet, a presidential pardon has given the enviro community something to look forward to as Alter, through his pro bono attorney to Newsweek, has stated that he already has figured out what he plans to do if the president grants his wish,"Upon his release, he intends to work on helping to develop alternative sources of energy so that the U.S. can reduce its dependence on foreign oil,"  Look out Al Gore.

Finally, a reason to end this ridiculous pirate craze.  By now we've all heard of the modern-day pirates from Somalia who have been wreaking havoc on international waters since the 90's but have gotten increasing air time as of late.  And more than likely you've debated with your ninja-loving friends on who would win in a fight, pirates versus ninjas.  DTE is here to give you a reason to quit glorifying these reckless criminals.  In a recent interview with Newsweek - one of the Somali pirates, in an incredibly arrogant and obnoxious manner, defended their actions saying, "I know it is evil, but it is a solution."  So why does this matter to the environment?  One of the ships they currently have hostage, a Saudi supertanker named Sirius Star, has $100 million dollars worth of oil aboard and these lunatic pirates are threatening to dump the oil in the ocean if their demands aren't met.  Avast!
