Down To Earth

One man’s trash is….

another man's problem.

Thanks Hawaii.

While we enjoy your Kona coffee, macadamia nuts and pineapple exports, we could really do without your trash.  Too bad for us now that federal officials have OK'd Hawaii's garbage to be shipped to the mainland - which happens to be Washington state after a successful bid by Roosevelt Regional Landfill in Klickitat County in south-central Washington. That's right, we bid for this waste. WTF Washington?

And how about this for a sentence from a story that appeared in the Hawaii paper the Star Bulletin, "Hawaiian Waste Systems has been collecting garbage since the fall and has been storing it in shrink-wrapped bales at two facilities in the Campbell Industrial Park area."  So not only are we getting garbage, we're getting garbage shrink wrapped in other garbage carried over seas by ships that pump waste into the air.

This is your idea of boosting the economy Washington?  This whole project stinks and it's more than the garbage coming over.

Wake up Washington citizens - this is the "green state" PR folks and talking heads try to pitch you.  Not so "green" huh?
