Cheers to a kitchen re-org, starring Crate & Barrel

We'd love to get a helpful visit from red hot organizer expert Marie Kondo, but since that's probably not going to happen, we're constantly fine-tuning our approach to living in a tiny home on wheels.

The latest work in progress: After busting a whole bunch of ceramic cups and glasses -- yes, everything shifts when you're rolling down the road, and dishes come flying out when you open the cupboards -- we've made the move to more durable dinnerware.

I sought advice from a friend who's an amazing cook, but also works in the film industry. It's part of his job to purchase props. When asking about where to shop, he sent me to Crate & Barrel. The store in Pasadena has a section dedicated to plates, bowls, glasses and cups designed to go outdoors. There's a larger selection online

Hooray, these updated melamine and acrylic products don't look plastic. Not that it matters to us because all we have is a sink, but they're tough enough to go in the dishwasher. I went with four stacking wine glasses and four dinner plates. Just in case we have company.

I'm not going to lie. It was painful to part with my favorite ceramic bowls -- they did spark joy, especially when remembering all the fun meals I've served in them. But this new arrangement makes so much sense. I'll post some photos from dinner later this week on our Instagram

Do you have kitchen organizing tips? We'd love to hear from you at goingmobile@spokesman.com.
