Going Mobile

Where’s your favorite solstice spot?

We're approaching one of my favorite times of the year -- the summer solstice.

In the Pacific Northwest, we're lucky to have 17 hours of daylight on the solstice, which this year falls on June 20.

Where's your favorite place to be on the summer solstice?

For me, it has to be Mount Rainier. Two years ago, I backpacked along the mountain's northeast side to Summerland to experience this special day, where at 9 p.m., the sun still hung gloriously above the mountain's shoulder.

Mount Rainier National Park just reopened after being closed for coronavirus concerns. Consider hitting the park sometime soon to celebrate our longest day of the year.
