How Energy Wise is Your Home?

"Talkin' about a revolution, well....you know, we all want to change the World." 

We've all heard the song, Will you hear the call to action?  

We are in a revolution, which may produce many new and innovative ways to get more for less. We are going to begin implementing methods of how all of our energies can begin working for us with less waste. Soon, we will be able to go to our local sports clubs and while running on the treadmill or the elliptical machine…our output of energy on the machine will be charging our cell phones and portable electronics.

Our homes will be going through these same transformations. We will begin shaping up the way our homes creates, stores, retains and utilizes the resources at hand.

Energy usage specialists are going to become as prevalent as home inspectors.

If you currently live in an apartment or home supported by taxpayers, you will soon see energy retrofits to help relieve the debt those dwellings currently present by wasting energy. Lower utiltiy costs will help ensure a more sustainable system for government supported housing.

Middle or upper class Homeowners, will begin to incorporate savings on the performance capabilities of their homes. Everyone is tightening their belts. Figuring out where and how they can conserve and save money. The best place to start is where you wake up.....everyday, at Home. Identifing and then taking the necessary steps to make improvements to the way your home performs will  help you save money monthly. The best part....is you will see and feel the difference immediately.

Simple, low to no-cost Retrofitting is the first step to getting more energy wise. The money you begin saving on your utility bills you can save up for the larger retrofitting projects.

For those of you that look for instant gratification and long term health and wealth benefits, this is your energy wise challenge. Make it a game for the family!  See who can Find, the most air leaks in your home. Who’s the Best Air Leak Detective in your family?  Once your air leaks are discovered….start sealing them up. Get everyone involved!!  Caulking, Sealing, Insulating.

Let it be a whole family project. Obviously, be age appropriate for the improvement tasks….remembering that learning to be wise should start young.

The cold outside air… will help you find leaks within your home. Feel around light switches, electrical outlets, doors, windows, pet doors, bathroom vents, ducts for your heating and cooling, dryer vents and plumbing vents, etc.

We will also talk about the way utility companies nationwide are going to start helping consumers identify ways to save energy.
