JimF: Craig Wasn’t First To Give Idaho GOP Fits
Full editorial by Jim Fisher here
Listening to Idaho Republicans speak publicly about Larry Craig's clinging to the seat he said he would leave is reminiscent of the defenses party leaders offered more than two decades ago of another troubled politician who refused to leave quietly. In the early 1980s, 2nd District Rep. George Hansen also got crosswise with the law. He was convicted of failing to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans and other transactions as required by the federal Ethics in Government Act. Yet even as he was scheduled to serve a prison term, Hansen in 1984 remained in and sought re-election to his seat in the U.S. House/Jim Fisher, Lewiston Tribune.
Question: Anyone remember Dishonest George?
