Question: What are your thoughts on school's handling of students protesting Pledge of Allegiance?

1. The Pledge of Allegiance is an archaic tradition and public schools shouldn't have to be dealing with it
2. This is a simple free-speech issue – students who do not believe in God should not be compelled to listen to others say 'under God'
3. The school handled the matter with just the right balance of respect, firmness and common sense
4. The principal was right to commend the students for standing for their beliefs and expressing themselves democratically
5. If other schools can suspend students who draw pictures of guns or wear T-shirts critical of homosexuality, this school can suspend disruptive malcontents who walk out of class in protest
6. If students walked out of class to express allegiance to the Confederate flag, the principal would be singing a different tune
7. If we reinstituted the draft, these privileged kids would have something real to worry about
8. Students shouldn't be pledging allegiance to the flag – they should be pledging allegiance to the Constitution
9. Both the students' confused and misguided actions and the principal's praise are sad commentaries on the state of America's public schools
