If you take away the Slumdogs and Benjamin Buttons of December, movies in 2008 were satisfactory at best. The predictably dreary early months ("Jumper," "Untraceable") gave way to a rocky summer ("Dark Knight" yes, "Hancock" no), and even the big fall blockbusters disappointed ("Twilight," "Quantum of Solace").
