Mary: Holding DFO To His Editorializing

I give a hat tip to Mary Souza at OpenCDA.com -- yeah, yeah, I know, that doesn't happen often here -- for finding an old SR editorial in which readers are warned to watch the city closely as it dealt with McEuen Field. Mary points out that the editorial had some questions re: the old Gang of Nine's handling of the review process for McEuen Field. And felt that the city was ignoring input from 2,000 residents who overwhelmingly wanted to keep the play area pretty much like it is. Sez Mary: "The interesting twist in this story is that the 2002 editorial was written by D.F. Oliveria, who currently runs a blog for that newspaper where he now constantly defends the actions of the City of CdA. We’ll see if he stays true to his editorial opinion about McEuen Field from eight years ago or gives the city a pass on its responsibility to the citizens." I doubt that the city would be foolish enough to commit political suicide by trying to overhaul McEuen Field for the sake of downtown merchants. Or it'd try to move the American Legion field w/o fulfilling its obligation to provide an equal facility elsewhere. I'm eager to see the plans for the new, improved McEuen Field. I'll decide then whether to be pro or con/DFO.
