Dennis: Political Violence UnAmerican

In 1981 President Ronald Reagan stood and raised his hand for the first of his three Swearings In, during his 8 years in office *. The liberals tore their clothes and threw ashes in the air. All was lost, they thought. In less than two months from his first Inaugural, an attempted assassination occurred. It was the work of a mentally deranged man - unconnected to any political agenda. He simply tried to kill the President for attention. Normal people do not do such things...nor would they EVER even think of it, let alone speak of it. All Americans (liberal, moderate and conservative) did not...and do not accept this type of behavior. We fight the battles within our republic with ideas and words...and votes. Timeless fights with timeless ideas. Public revenge-anger serves no one except the venting, vengeful mentally ill person. And so the lives of liberal leaders are now threatened. As a conservative I cannot remain quiet. As an American, I will not shrug this off/Dennis Mansfield. More here.

Question: We are a house divided. The hate and anger expressed against the Obama administration and the Demo Congress by the right today is of the same nature as the hate and anger leveled at the Bush administration and the ruling Republicans by the Left not long ago. How much longer can we stand as a nation if we don't start reining in the extreme elements of our own parties?
