49ers Pick Iupati In 1st Round, No. 17
The San Francisco 49ers picked Idaho Vandals lineman Mike Iupati with the 17th pick in the first round, making Iupati the first UIdaho football player to be drafted in round No. 1 in 43 years.
Iupati was just on the conference call and he said he spent three hours with (new 49er coach Mike) Solari when he came out on his visit. "I learned a lot from him," Iupati said. "Just talking about plays, learning the defense. He's (Solari) a great coach and he knows a lot" -- Niner Insider blog.
