My wife just earned her certified public accountant’s accreditation, plus it’s her birthday next week. So I’m on the hook for presents big-time. Trouble is, I’m out of ideas. Not just short of gifting notions, mind you, but bereft. Back when we were courting my go-to plan was always a book of poetry. But we’ve run through Byron, Shelley, Keats, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Emily Dickinson, Yeats and a whole lot of Shakespeare. Matter of fact, I think we’re down to Rudyard Kipling; shoot, I almost gave Victoria a copy of Charge of the Light Brigade on our anniversary last year. ...
