JohnA: Hassell Should Get Credit

JohnA: Two points about (former Mayor Steve Judy), DFO. It’s true he acquired the Cherry Hill property (with money borrowed from the Water Fund that had accrued under Mayor Hassell’s administration) but not before the City had verbally committed to property on Best Avenue (for a new fire station). Several tenants were forced to move from the commercial and residential properties before the deal fell through in favor of the Cherry Hill property. On NW Boulevard Judy did make a sweet deal with ITD, but it was only made possible because $1.5 million was left from the Street Bond issue approved during Mayor Hassell’s term.

Question: Yesterday, we talked about the worst decisions made by the Coeur d'Alene City Council in the last 30 years. How about discussing the best decisions by a mayor and council in the last three decades today?
